Sterilisation and desinfection guide

Recommendations for disinfecting, pre-sterilization cleaning, and sterilizing titanium and stainless steel included in the tools and accessories set for the NDI implantation system

Disinfection is carried out with full immersion:

  • of titanium items into in 1% chloramine solution or 3% formalin solution for 30 minutes;
  • of stainless steel items in 3% hydrogen peroxide solution with 0.5% detergent for 80 minutes.

Pre-sterilization cleaning of items is done with a 3% solution of detergent (Biolot or similar) in the following sequence:

  • pre-rinse under running water for 0.5±0.1 minutes;
  • soak in detergent solution at 50±5 °C for 15±1 minutes at full immersion;
  • wash each item in the detergent solution for 0.5±1 minute;
  • rinse under running water for 3±1 minutes;
  • rinse in distilled water for 0.5±1 minute;
  • dry with hot air at 85±5 °C until the moisture is completely removed.

Sterilization is performed as follows:

titanium items:

  • steam method at 132 °C and an excess pressure of 2 bars for 20 minutes;
  • steam method at 120 °C and an excess pressure of 1 bar for 45 minutes;
  • air method at 180 °C for 60 minutes;
  • air method at 160 °C for 150 minutes;

stainless steel items:

  • steam method at 132 °C and an excess pressure of 2 bars for 20 minutes;
  • steam method at 120 °C and an excess pressure of 1 bar for 45 minutes.

For stainless steel products, disinfectants and cleaners containing a high concentration of chlorine or oxalic acid are not recommended. Important! Improper or inadequate treatment of stainless steel items may result in their destruction in a very short time. Disinfection, cleaning, and sterilization of titanium and stainless steel may be done by other methods in accordance with methodologies established for those procedures.

Important notes:

  • Visually inspect the entire toolkit. Damaged or blunt instruments should not be used.
  • Do not allow blood or tissue residues to dry on the instruments. Immediately after surgery, immerse the tools in a disinfectant solution.

• Do not send tools to storage if they are wet or damp.
• Heavily contaminated instruments must be cleaned in an ultrasonic unit.
• Tools consisting of several parts must be disassembled prior to cleaning.

Do not use a hot-air sterilizer, as in this mode the cutting edges of the tool quickly become dull.
